Manitoba Centre for Health Policy 20th Anniversary Celebration International Conference

The Manitoba Centre for Health Policy will celebrate its 20th year in 2010. In its short life MCHP has been recognized for numerous groundbreaking achievements in population and public health research leading to evidence-informed health and social policy.

The Repository housed at MCHP is a unique resource that has facilitated research and peer-reviewed publications, placing MCHP at the forefront of the field.

To mark this occasion MCHP will be hosting an international conference in March 2010. This conference will bring together leaders in the field as well as highlighting the past and current achievements of the scientists who have helped MCHP set the gold standard in population based research, knowledge translation and data linkage. The founding directors of MCHP will be honoured for their vision, leadership, innovation, persistence and remarkable achievements.

Conference Goals

  • To nourish and develop collaborative health research environments by sharing successes and best practices in population health research, policies and practice.
  • To explore the future of population-based health research, knowledge translation, and data linkage and how it will inform policy development.
  • To provide a forum to showcase and learn from innovative research, policies and practices that address the determinants of health. 
  • To profile strategies that build the capacity of population health research at local, regional, provincial/territorial, national and international levels. 
  • To provide a meeting ground for knowledge exchange among citizens, public health practitioners, clinicians, program planners, policy makers, and researchers from a range of disciplines and sectors.
