PHRN has launched a new online course designed to help clinical trial teams confidently use linked data in their studies.
Developed in partnership with the Australian Clinical Trials Alliance, the course focuses on common challenges: knowing what data is available for linkage, how to incorporate it into trial design, and how to navigate governance and approval processes.
Australia has some of the richest health data in the world, but it’s often underused in clinical trials. When used well, linked data can strengthen research quality and reduce some of the burden of data collection.
This course is part of the broader Trial Link initiative, which aims to make linked data more accessible for trialists, ultimately supporting better health outcomes.
The free, self-paced course takes around 3 hours to complete and covers: what data is available for linkage; how the data linkage process works; the strengths and limitations of administrative data in clinical trials; how to incorporate linked data into trial design; and governance considerations and the application approval process.
