Data Tech-Talk with Assistant Minister Angus Taylor and Professor Fiona Stanley AC

Tuesday, August 15, 2017

In a first tech-talk video, Assistant Minister Angus Taylor MP speaks with distinguished epidemiologist and former Australian of the Year Professor Fiona Stanley AC whose work in health data analytics has led to improved health outcomes for Australian children.

Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation Angus Taylor launched the first in a Tech Talk series explaining the benefits of greater access to government data.

Professor Stanley is a strong advocate for data linkage and analytics, and for collaboration between government and researchers.

Professor Stanley says through the use of administrative health data, researchers have been able to examine issues such as the contribution of ADHD and fetal alcohol syndrome to juvenile incarceration; and the relationship between airplane travel and vascular diseases in the legs, such as deep vein thrombosis.

The Tech Talk with Professor Stanley has been published on Youtube.
