PHRN to receive $4.4M in funding

Investment will directly support Australia’s national data linkage network

The Minister for Education and Training, Minister Simon Birmingham  announced the release of the national Research Infrastructure Investment Plan on 15 May 2018. This includes $4.4 million for the Population Health Research Network (PHRN) to maintain the national infrastructure that enables existing health and human services data from around the nation to be linked in privacy-preserving ways and made available for research purposes. The network includes (i) data linage services at regional and national level; (ii) secure file transfer and access services; and (iii) coordination of the Network.

“This is wonderful news and the PHRN is extremely grateful for the additional support provide by the Australian Government through the Investment Plan” said PHRN Chief Executive, Dr Merran Smith.
