National Press Club Address by Tim Kelsey, Thursday 24 May 2018

Friday, May 11, 2018

Tim Kelsey, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Digital Health Agency, will address to the National Press Club on Thursday 24 May at 11:30am for 12:00pm. The theme of the address is, ‘Your Health in Your Hands – the Digital Evolution of Health and Care in Australia’ and will be televised by the ABC. The speech will provide an update on progress towards delivering Australia’s National Digital Health Strategy and outline important developments with the Australian Government’s My Health Record system.

The Australian Government announced in the 2017 Budget that by the end of 2018, a My Health Record will be created for every Australian, unless they choose not to have one. The My Health Record is a shared electronic summary care record, which can be securely shared between a patient and their treating health care providers. Over 5.7 million Australian currently have a My Health Record, with the system being in operation for over 5 years. We want to start a national conversation about My Health Record so that all Australians, their health professionals and carers can take full advantage of this national infrastructure.
