The University of Western Australia and the Population Health Research Network (PHRN) Board are pleased to announce the appointment of Associate Professor Rebecca Glauert as the new PHRN Chief Executive.

As Scientific Director of the Raine Study, Director of the Australian Child and Youth Wellbeing Atlas and Principal Research Fellow at UWA’s School of Population and Global Health, A/Prof Glauert is passionate about translating data-informed evidence into life-changing health and wellbeing interventions. She will start on 1 July 2025.

“I am excited and honoured to join a nationally significant research infrastructure organisation and look forward to leading the talented team at the PHRN into the next chapter,” A/Prof Glauert said.

A/Prof Glauert succeeds Dr Merran Smith, PHRN’s inaugural Chief Executive, who is retiring. Under Dr Smith’s leadership, the network has grown into an internationally recognised and respected research infrastructure, supporting vital health and human services research across Australia.

“Dr Smith has done an outstanding job. Her impact has been extraordinary, and she will be missed. However, we are delighted to have found a very worthy replacement and are excited and looking forward to A/Prof Glauert joining and leading the PHRN team,” said Professor Ian Smith, PHRN Board Chair.
