Secure environments
Researchers are often required to access sensitive information in secure remote environments which are controlled virtual settings designed to protect sensitive or confidential data during research activities.
The PHRN supports three secure research environments:

When researchers join SURE, they are allocated a virtual workspace that runs entirely on hardware physically located at and controlled by the Sax Institute. This means that researchers can log in remotely and analyse data, without datasets ever leaving SURE. Contact and cost |

All data is hosted onshore by Microsoft Azure cloud computing services and accessed through a virtual desktop. Microsoft is responsible for securing data centres, all of which for SEAD are physically located in Australia East. The hosting of data within Australia also applies to backups and will not be hosted overseas in the future. Contact and cost |
